Questo passaggio di corrente consente il funzionamento di una macchina o di un componente di essa. Come, ad esempio, una resistenza elettrica o un motore elettrico. Ma che cosa hanno di cos\u00ec particolare i cavi elettrici?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:16px\">I\u00a0<strong>cavi elettrici<\/strong>\u00a0sono l\u2019elemento attraverso il quale passa la corrente elettrica che alimenta una macchina o pi\u00f9 in generale un circuito elettrico. Sono costituiti da un\u00a0<strong>conduttore<\/strong>, in genere un filo di rame nudo o placcato con\u00a0<strong>stagno<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>argento\u00a0<\/strong>o\u00a0<strong>nichel\u00a0<\/strong>oppure pi\u00f9 raramente in\u00a0<strong>alluminio<\/strong>, a seconda dell\u2019<a href=\"https:\/\/rdcomponents.com\/site\/2023\/05\/04\/80-la-resistenza-sui-contatti\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/rdcomponents.com\/site\/2023\/05\/04\/80-la-resistenza-sui-contatti\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">applicazione e delle caratteristiche dei materiali<\/a>. Viene infine avvolto da un isolante per evitare che si crei un corto circuito.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:16px\">Il conduttore pu\u00f2 essere formato da un filo unico, detto\u00a0<strong>rigido<\/strong>, oppure dall\u2019insieme di pi\u00f9 fili, e in questo caso prende il nome di\u00a0<strong>trefolo<\/strong>. Per determinare ci\u00f2 con precisione sono stati sviluppati diversi sistemi di classificazione. Il pi\u00f9 comune e standardizzato attualmente \u00e8 il\u00a0<strong>sistema\u00a0AWG<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>American Wire Gauge<\/strong>. Venne utilizzato per la prima volta nel\u00a0<strong>1857\u00a0<\/strong>negli Stati Uniti e in Canada. Questo sistema classifica i diversi diametri dei cavi attribuendo una numerazione da\u00a0<strong>0000<\/strong>\u00a0[<strong>4\/0<\/strong>] a\u00a0<strong>40 AWG<\/strong>. La versione definitiva di questo sistema \u00e8 stata messa a punto nel\u00a0<strong>1957\u00a0<\/strong>da\u00a0<strong>Joseph Rogers Brown<\/strong>\u00a0della societ\u00e0\u00a0<strong>Brown &amp; Sharpe<\/strong>, produttori di strumenti di misura. Per questo motivo il sistema\u00a0<strong>AWG\u00a0<\/strong>\u00e8 anche noto come sistema\u00a0<strong>Brown and Sharpe wire gauge<\/strong>\u00a0(<strong>B&amp;S<\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:16px\">Il valore di\u00a0<strong>AWG\u00a0<\/strong>\u00e8 espresso come numero intero e ad ogni valore corrisponde una dimensione specifica (in\u00a0<strong>mm<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>pollici<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>mm2<\/strong>\u00a0o\u00a0<strong>kcmil<\/strong>). In questo sistema, all&#8217;aumentare del numero misurato corrisponde la dimensione del filo che sar\u00e0 progressivamente sempre pi\u00f9 piccola.
