E sappiamo che il primo utilizzo formale risale al\u00a0<em>1830<\/em>, per opera del <a href=\"https:\/\/rdcomponents.com\/site\/2022\/09\/15\/49-le-origini-del-termostato\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>chimico scozzese<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Andrew Ure<\/strong><\/a>. Recentemente, per\u00f2, mi sono imbattuto in un\u00a0personaggio che onestamente non conoscevo e che sembrerebbe avere influenzato, e non di poco, il nostro Ure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:16px\">Nel corso di alcune ricerche e approfondimenti, stimolati anche da informazioni pubblicate su un catalogo di un mio partner francese, mi sono imbattuto nella figura di\u00a0<strong>Jean Simon Bonnemain\u00a0<\/strong>(<em><strong>1743-1830<\/strong><\/em>) e nel saggio del 2006 di una ricercatrice francese,\u00a0<strong>Emmanuelle Gallo<\/strong><em>[1]<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:16px\"><strong>Bonnemain\u00a0<\/strong>\u00e8 stato riconosciuto quale inventore del\u00a0<em><strong>sistema di riscaldamento centralizzato ad acqua calda<\/strong><\/em>. Anche se in realt\u00e0 la sua principale invenzione sia stata un sistema di regolazione della temperatura, con una vastissima possibilit\u00e0 di applicazioni. Le origini risalgono al periodo\u00a0<em>1778-1793<\/em>\u00a0durante il quale\u00a0<strong>Bonnemain\u00a0<\/strong>sviluppa un\u2019incubatrice artificiale per polli. Questa macchina poteva controllare la schiusa delle uova e l\u2019allevamento artificiale dei polli grazie a un sistema di regolazione del calore. Per questo motivo, nel\u00a0<em>1783<\/em>, chiese ed ottenne, il 12 marzo, un \u201c<em>privilegio reale<\/em>\u201d per 15 anni. Si tratta di un sistema francese di protezione delle invenzioni antecedente ai brevetti, introdotti nel\u00a0<em>1791,\u00a0<\/em>e rilasciato con decreto reale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"459\" src=\"https:\/\/rdcomponents.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Bonnemain.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17649\" style=\"width:700px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rdcomponents.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Bonnemain.jpg 800w, https:\/\/rdcomponents.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Bonnemain-300x172.jpg 300w, https:\/\/rdcomponents.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Bonnemain-150x86.jpg 150w, https:\/\/rdcomponents.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Bonnemain-768x441.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:16px\">Il regolatore di calore (<em>come si vede in figura [2]<\/em>) era costituito da una\u00a0<strong>doppia asta in ferro e ottone<\/strong>. La differenza di dilatazione termica dei due metalli era responsabile del movimento. L&#8217;<strong>asta<\/strong>, collegata a una\u00a0<strong>leva<\/strong>, apriva e chiudeva una porta per regolare l&#8217;ingresso dell&#8217;aria nel forno, variando l&#8217;intensit\u00e0 del fuoco. L&#8217;asta era anche collegata a una superficie per fissare la temperatura e veniva fatta passare attraverso la stufa sopra il forno.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:16px\">Questo sistema consentiva un calore costante mantenuto per un certo tempo di funzionamento e poteva essere utilizzato anche in diversi modi. Nel corso degli anni successivi questo sistema venne applicato anche a serre, bagni, stufe, cucine, riscaldamento domestico e delle serre, lavaggio della biancheria. Per promuovere l\u2019applicazione di questo suo sistema,\u00a0<strong>Bonnemain\u00a0<\/strong>fu, nel\u00a0<em>1798<\/em>, uno dei 110 espositori alla prima\u00a0<strong>Fiera Industriale sugli Champs Elys\u00e9es<\/strong>\u00a0a\u00a0<strong>Parigi<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:16px\">Il concetto di un\u2019asta che poteva allungarsi o restringersi in funzione della variazione della temperatura \u00e8 ancora oggi il sistema con il quale funzionano i\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/rdcomponents.com\/site\/termostati-ad-asta\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">termostati ad asta<\/a>\u00a0(o\u00a0<strong>invar<\/strong>), tuttora utilizzati nel mondo del riscaldamento.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:16px\">Nel 1815 abbiamo finalmente l\u2019incontro con il professore di chimica dell\u2019Universit\u00e0 di Glasgow,\u00a0<strong>Andrew Ure<\/strong>\u00a0(<em><strong>1778-1857<\/strong><\/em>). Questi riceve alcune lezioni private da\u00a0<strong>Bonnemain\u00a0<\/strong>in merito alla costruzione di stufe ad acqua calda e sull&#8217;incubazione artificiale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:16px\">Ure ci fornisce questa descrizione di Bonnemain:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:16px\">\u201c<em>Era allora un uomo robusto e sano, di circa settantadue anni, dai modi amabili e compiacenti, e ben informato su tutte le interessanti invenzioni dell&#8217;epoca. Ho fatto con lui molte passeggiate istruttive. Era sempre pronto a condurre il curioso straniero a vedere tutto ci\u00f2 che c&#8217;era di pi\u00f9 innovativo nella scienza e nell&#8217;arte, concludendo il suo giro di visite al Jardin des Plantes<\/em>.\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/mail.google.com\/mail\/u\/0\/#m_-4517725318380123425_Nota3\">[3]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:16px\">Quindici anni dopo,\u00a0<strong>Andrew Ure<\/strong>\u00a0cre\u00f2 il primo sistema di controllo della temperatura all\u2019interno di una fabbrica di cotone, utilizzando per la prima volta il termine di\u00a0<em><strong>thermostat\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>(<strong>termostato<\/strong>) per descrivere il dispositivo che, sfruttando il diverso coefficiente di dilatazione dei metalli, consentiva l\u2019ingresso di aria fresca dall\u2019esterno e di <a href=\"https:\/\/rdcomponents.com\/site\/2022\/09\/15\/49-le-origini-del-termostato\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>abbassare la temperatura all\u2019interno della fabbrica<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:16px\">La scienza non ha confini e non ha tempo. Un\u2019invenzione, che inizialmente pu\u00f2 sembrare irrilevante e destinata a morire, in breve potrebbe aprire orizzonti infiniti e diventare immortale, come \u00e8 successo con il sistema di riscaldamento di\u00a0<strong>Bonnemain<\/strong>. Tutto inizia sul finire del\u00a0<strong>XVIII secolo<\/strong>, per sviluppare e potenziare un\u2019incubatrice per la schiusa delle uova dei polli. E oggi, nel 2025, quel sistema \u00e8 stato esteso a tutto il mondo del riscaldamento e del controllo della temperatura, ma resiste ancora nel mondo delle incubatrici. Infatti, non molto tempo fa ho venduto alcuni termostati bimetallici a un produttore di macchine per incubatrici di uova. Uno dei numerosi strani business che abbiamo incontrato in oltre 26 anni di attivit\u00e0. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:16px\">Perch\u00e9, come accennavo prima, il controllo meccanico della temperatura, basato sul principio della dilatazione dei metalli che\u00a0<strong>Bonnemain\u00a0<\/strong>svilupp\u00f2 e mise in atto alla fine del Settecento e che lui stesso cerc\u00f2 di estendere ad altri settori, oggi viene utilizzato non solo nel mondo del\u00a0<strong>riscaldamento<\/strong>, ma anche della\u00a0<strong>refrigerazione<\/strong>, nelle\u00a0<strong>resistenze elettriche<\/strong>, nei\u00a0<strong>motori<\/strong>, nei\u00a0<strong>trasformatori\u00a0<\/strong>e ovunque ci sia un passaggio di corrente che possa causare un surriscaldamento degli impianti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:16px\">La tecnologia si \u00e8 evoluta e oggi li differenziamo tra<strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/rdcomponents.com\/site\/termostati-bimetallici\/#tk24\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">termostati bimetallici<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0o\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/rdcomponents.com\/site\/protettori-termici\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>protettori termici<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/rdcomponents.com\/site\/termostati-regolabili\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>termostati regolabili<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0e\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/rdcomponents.com\/site\/termostati-in-aria\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>termostati in aria<\/strong><\/a>. Abbiamo raggiunto anche <a href=\"https:\/\/rdcomponents.com\/site\/2022\/03\/17\/27-la-miniaturizzazione-dei-protettori-termici\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>dimensioni ridottissime creando i\u00a0microprotettori<\/strong><\/a>.
